- Brought in by PE owner during a leadership vacuum, leading the finance team in the absence of a CEO, Director of Finance and shortly after CFO’s unexpected resignation
- Inherited strained relationship with Board/PE backer as previous leadership had failed to answer Board’s questions, creating high level of anxiety
- Within 2 months, regained Board’s trust by
- Rapidly auditing the Fin./Accounting function and providing clear set of recommendations and roadmap for immediate wins
- Ensuring deadlines were met for monthly reporting and preempting most of Board’s questions
- Building action plans with Ops leaders and following-up on execution
- Re-allocating existing resources to improve internal reporting, better leverage Netsuite and re-establish communication channels between Fin./Accounting and operational leaders
- Swift actions to rebuild trust alleviated pressure on the teams and created the right conditions for the new CEO to join a few months later and launch its strategic review

FINANCIAL PROCESS OPTIMIZATION
- AP bottleneck: removed CEO and COO from first round of approval, empowered other managers in the organization to be accountable for their relationships with vendors
- Led communication with vendors to improve quality of invoices received, reducing processing time and ensuring higher level of internal accountability for expenses incurred
- Built AR function from scratch to help collect $2m in AR. Personally gathered and organized AP management platforms data, worked with Ops to fix EDI setup, and created an efficient escalation process to identify/fix issues and reduce penalties paid to wholesale customers
- Implemented Ramp to automate expenses GL coding, shorten month-end close process and reduce coding errors while creating user-level accountability for company money spent
- In aggregate, brought month-end close time from ~40 calendar days to ~21 within 4 months without any additional resource

- Assessed all team members skillset and personal development goals to closely match them with revised team needs

- Redefined company’s strategic growth goals with CEO and recruited the right leader for the new department
- Supervised team rebuild, site selection model revamping and new store design development to deliver higher sales volumes and higher 4-wall profitability
- Built internal guidelines and policies for stores maintenance to deploy capital efficiently while providing managers with visibility on their requests’ status
